How it all Started

First sculpture 2009

Welcome to Lise’s creative journey. Art has always been a part of her life—from dabbling in painting to working with clay. However, it was the discovery of Paverpol that truly defined her artistic medium. After taking a workshop and creating her first piece in just one day, she was “hooked” and went on to become a Certified Paverpol Instructor in 2010, continuing to refine her skills through numerous Master training classes.

Lise’s work is inspired by life itself, ranging from dancers to sports figures, often created using real-life photographs as references. She also draws inspiration from the elegance of brass and other metals, reinterpreting their beauty through natural materials and Paverpol techniques. Adding to this is the fun and enchanting world of whimsical fairies, birds, and animals.

Using armatures, fabric, and Paverpol products, Lise brings these imaginative creations to life. Join her on this artistic journey where nature and creativity intertwine.

What is Paverpol?

Paverpol Canada was established in 2007 when it was first imported into Canada from the Netherlands.  Today, the brand “Paverpol” is the leading fabric hardening in Canada and worldwide.   When you hear artists saying that they are “paverpoling”, you know that they`re sculpting with fabric or designing within a multi-media forum with the world`s leading non-toxic, water soluble and ACMI approved textile hardener.

What is Paverpol?

It is a polymer based non-toxic art medium primarily used as a textile hardener; however within the multi-media arena, this product is now used within various art forms as part of an integrated technique component.  The Paverpol medium is water based and has received the AP seal for non-toxicity from the ACMI (Arts and Creative Materials Institute).  You can simply clean your hands and tools with warm water and soap…so you know it’s safe to handle.

Paverpol can make materials such as fabrics/textiles, paper, leather, moss, tree branches, and other natural materials, “rock-hard” and weather resistant.

Recycle, Reuse, Re-purpose!!

In addition to the environmental qualities of Paverpol; the use of this art medium from a environmentally responsible perspective is unlimited.  We continuously recycle, resuse and re-purpose “secondary  treasures”  within our creations and during our workshops.  There`s a famous slogan for paverpoling, “FROM T-SHIRT TO GARDEN ART”.  The root of paverpoling is taking an old cotton tshirt and making a weatherproof garden statue within a day.  With this simple one coat medium you can turn your old cotton t-shirt or silk scarf into an amazing indoor or outdoor piece of art.

Yes we can be outside in all weather, even snow and ice

And in the home we are easy to take care and dust ...

This summer while at the Scotch Creek Market a past customer stopped to tell me that they had lost everything in our devastating fires in 2023.  They had just moved into their rebuilt home in May and she wanted to share with me that she had purchased a sculpture of 5 flying birds on bamboo rods which had been in their garden when the fire went through. The rods had burned but the birds though darkened by the fire had survived. She sent me the picture to the left.
